Mark your calendars! The 3rd annual Muddy Boot Organic Festival will take place September 6th – 7th and the keynote address will take place Friday, September 5th, and will feature agricultural visionary Dr. Wes Jackson.
Dr. Jackson established and served as chair of one of the country's first environmental studies programs at California State University-Sacramento and then returned to his native Kansas to found The Land Institute in 1976 (www.landinstitute.org). He is the author of several books including New Roots for Agriculture and Becoming Native to This Place and is widely recognized as a leader in the international movement for a more sustainable agriculture. He was a 1990 Pew Conservation Scholar, in 1992 became a MacArthur Fellow, and in 2000 received the Right Livelihood Award (called the "alternative Nobel prize.")

Tickets for the keynote address are $15 and are available here. Festival admission is $5 and kids under 12 are free.

Post-2008 Festival notes: A huge thank you to all the sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers and vendors who made the 2008 Muddy Boot Organic Festival a huge success! Check out photos from the third annual event.
Update on our Minimal Waste Plan: Muddy Boot was able to capture 92% of all the festival waste and divert this from landfills. 29% of this amount was turned into compost at Cedar Grove and 71% was recycled! Thanks to all the recycling volunteers, and all the exhibitors who helped follow our waste prevention plan! We’re getting closer to zero waste!
