Zerofootprint has developed a strategy to reduce the environmental impact of events and festivals. By measuring greenhouse gas emissions based on activities directly related to an event, and the resources used in an event, we can help to manage the events impact on climate change. We work with organizations in order to properly establish the scope of measurement, which might include travel of event speakers and attendees, energy use, emissions from single-use packaging, and emissions from shipping material goods for use during the event. Our Research Team’s dedication to scientific accuracy helps to ensure that all emissions have been accounted for. We review and update the emissions factors used in all of our calculations on a quarterly basis, thereby greatly reducing the opportunity for uncertainty.
Earlier this year, Zerofootprint Zerofootprint and the Rogers Picnic partnered to make the Rogers Picnic ‘green’. Zerofootprint reduced event emissions by seventy-two percent, which resulted in 15.51 tonnes of avoided CO2 emissions. This was achieved by making the event both carbon neutral and zero waste.
As part of the waste reduction program, Zerofootprint worked with the event coordinator to:
• Measure Event Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions
• Divert Waste
• Measure GHG Savings from Waste Diversion
• Prepare a Comprehensive Report
• Offset Unavoidable Carbon Emissions
Zerofootprint has been involved with green events on all levels. Whether you are looking for initial guidance to develop a green event on your own, or for a more inclusive partnership, Zerofootprint has the experience to produce an event companies and attendees will be proud to be a part of.
