WikiVerde is a resource with an international viewpoint on issues concerning the environment and sustainable living. WikiVerde encourages people from around the globe to share their views on everything from alternative energy to recycling to organic food and natural health. They hope that readers will leave having a better understanding of how our species can help to protect our environment, as opposed to focusing on the policies of individual nations or local governments.
They chose the name WikiVerde to symbolize a multicultural and international view of what is known as the Green Movement. Verde is the word for green in several of the romance languages and derives from the Latin word Viridis. Considering the environmental focus is the entire Earth, they felt a more international/multicultural word was needed to encompass the wide scope of the endeavor. At WikiVerde they are striving to cover every shade of Green along the environmental spectrum.
The purpose is to create a reader-friendly website with down-to-earth tips on the environment, healthy living, and green living sustainability.
