The mandate at SHEC has been to develop and commercialize hydrogen production technologies that can take advantage of renewable energy sources and dramatically reduce greenhouse gas emissions at costs competitive with conventional hydrogen production.
Tom Beck, the founder and CEO, devised a theory for a process for the commercial scale production of hydrogen from water using sunlight. With this breakthrough, enough interest was generated to incorporate the company.
