HeyJute is an emerging eco-friendly accessory house comprised of a Canadian team of creative individuals from various backgrounds, who have set out to offer extremely unique accessories in a market which is saturated with mundane assembly-line type synthetic products.

At HeyJute they believe that they can successfully operate a business and generate interest in their products, without compromising they morals. This, along with trying to make a little bit of a positive difference in the world, is what they are about.

About Jute

Jute is a long, soft, shiny plant fibre that can be spun into coarse, strong threads. It is produced from plants in the genus Corchorus. Jute is second only to cotton, in amount produced and its variety of uses. Jute fibres are composed primarily of the plant materials cellulose and lignin.

Jute is a rainy season crop, growing best in warm, humid climates. The world’s finest Jute is produced in the Bengal Delta Plain, mostly in Bangladesh & India.

Some Features of Jute

  • 100% bio-degradable & recyclable and thus environmentally friendly.
  • A vegetable fibre procured from bark of the Jute plant and it falls into the category of bast fibres (other bast fibres are Flax, Hemp, Ramie, etc.).
  • High tensile strength.
  • One of the most versatile natural fibres that has been used in raw materials for packaging, textiles, non-textile, and agricultural sectors.
  • A catalyst in quick growth of vegetation. It coalesces with the soil, increases its permeability & retains the appropriate humidity as “mulch”, hence creating a micro-climate that is conducive to vegetative growth. It helps forests grow!
