Students studying Environmental Science courses in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences have a number of opportunities throughout their studies which provide them with valuable skills and knowledge to pursue their career, such as:
- extensive fieldwork – providing field-based skills and the opportunity to work with active researchers working at the forefront of their field in terrestrial habitat, species conservation, marine, freshwater and environmental management
- professional experience through experiential learning options – working with researchers and undertaking internships with professional employer organisations such as Parks Victoria and the Department of Sustainability and Environment
- professional development – ensuring all students have the opportunity to gain a real workplace experience and be mentored by industry or government-based environmental professionals, providing valuable on-the-job training and networks for students, which can lead to job offers for graduates
- the opportunity to undertake international exchange with partners such as Waterloo University, Coastal Carolina University and University of Idaho
- the opportunity to win an Earthwatch Scholarship – enabling participation in exciting conservation projects
