WCWC is Canada’s largest membership-based wilderness protection organization. It was founded in 1980 and presently has 26,000 members. They work on protecting endangered wilderness and biodiversity and establishing sustainable resource use in non-protected areas. WCWC believes that an educated public is the most powerful lobby force. Their main activities include publishing educational materials, ecological research, building hiking trails into endangered areas, and organizing public events.
