As part of Yahoo!’s overall green efforts to engage and encourage users to make greener choices throughout their day, Yahoo! is launching an international call-for-designs and free cash for a green cause. Leveraging its more than 500 million users around the world, Yahoo! is challenging tree-huggers and designers everywhere (with little or lots of design expertise) to help create an icon design that best symbolizes being green.
The winning green design will be used across Yahoo!’s network to help people flag simple actions and choices that are more eco-friendly (think green travel choices on Yahoo! Travel). If the bragging rights weren’t enough, the winning designer will also receive $20,000 from Yahoo! to donate to any environmental non-profit of their choice. The two runner-up designers also receive $5k for their non-profit of choice.
