Go for Green is pleased to announce that the 2007 edition of Commuter Challenge will take place from June 3 to 9! Preparations are now underway. Go for Green and its partners encourage you to get on board!
Last year, over 38,000 Canadians took part in the Challenge by walking, cycling, taking transit, carpooling or tele-working instead of driving alone to get to work. This resulted in the reduction of 887,115.80 kg of eCO2 emissions or 704 passenger vehicles not driven for a year!
Commuter Challenge is a national program that aims to increase the awareness of the benefits of sustainable commuting and to encourage Canadians to take action by walking, cycling, taking transit, carpooling or tele-working instead of driving alone to get work.
The program is centered on an annual National Commuter Challenge event where communities and workplaces across Canada compete for the highest percentage of participation during Clean Air Day (June 6, 2007) and Canadian Environment Week (June 3 to 9, 2007). By registering their participation online, Canadians are able to see the results of their contribution in terms of the distance they commuted sustainably and the amount of greenhouse gases they prevented from entering the atmosphere.
