Michael Shuman is an attorney and economist, and is Vice President for Enterprise Development for the Training & Development Corporation (TDC) of Bucksport, Maine. He has written, co-written, or edited seven books, including most recently, The Small-Mart Revolution: How Local Businesses Are Beating the Global Competition (Berrett-Koehler, 2006). Michael is a founding member of the board of directors of BALLE, the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies (GET is the Toronto BALLE network). Michael is in Toronto to speak at the annual conference of the Toronto and Ontario Business Improvement Areas (TABIA/OBIA) on April 2.
