Earthbag Building Workshop - Session 2

Learn how to build a structure using soil and polypropylene bags with internationally renowned Kaki Hunter and Doni Kiffmeyer, authors of Earthbag Building. This very low cost building technique is durable, beautiful and seismically resistant. In addition to basic earthbag building skills, this hands-on course will cover material selection, tool making, roofing systems and natural plasters.

Session #1: 5-18 March 2007 – Kaki and Doni will cover site evaluation, soil prep, foundation, basic EB wall building skills, tools, tricks, terms and techniques, arch construction, strip anchor installation and a brief plaster demo. This will involve lots of hands on opportunities.

Session #2: 18 March – 1 April 2007 – Continued EB wall construction, building an arched entryway, roof design and completion, and final detailing will be covered during this session. Kaki and Doni will also introduce class to various natural plasters and how to use them.
