In awarding its Annual Evanston Environmental Stewardship Awards, the Environment Board plans to celebrate the 37th anniversary of Earth Day (April 22) by calling attention to Evanstonians who are modeling good environmental stewardship. This year’s award winners are:

Julie Hamos In recognition of environmental leadership with legislative initiatives, transportation issues, environmental vision, and support for the City of Evanston’s new office of sustainability.

Julia Carroll In recognition of environmental leadership with the City of Evanston strategic plan; support of the U.S. Mayor’s Climate Protection Agreement; and commitment to a sustainable Evanston.

Dave Cook In recognition of the environmental initiatives he has instituted in City of Evanston facilities; work on the new franchise agreement; and commitment to sustainability.

Joel Freeman In recognition of the environmental leadership he has demonstrated with his work on the Evanston Energy Commission, the Network for Evanston’s Future, and Evanston’s Energy Future.

Nathan Kipnis In recognition of the environmental leadership he has demonstrated with architectural design,community environmental advocacy, and the innovative work of Nathan Kipnis Architects, Inc.

The Evanston RoundTable In recognition of their journalistic approach to the environment, support of communityenvironmental issues, events and initiatives, and a commitment to a green future for Evanston
