UK scientists say that the diets of cows and sheep can be altered to help decrease methane production. Methane is a greenhouse gas that contributes to climate change.
After analyzing published studies on yields from organic farming, a professor at the University of Michigan states that organic farming is just as efficient, or better, as conventional farming.
The researchers state:
“Organic farming can yield up to three times as much food as conventional farming in developing countries, and holds its own against standard methods in rich countries.”
Coffee farms in Guatemala are located in prime locations, with flowing rivers, which have the potential to produce electricity to run their operations or provide energy to the grid. They are looking for financing to back up this plan, but some fear that the costs may be too high.
