UofT's Rotman School of Management Partners with Zerofootprint to Fight Climate Change.

Toronto – With the goal of reducing its environmental footprint, Rotman Executive Programs at the University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management has partnered with Zerofootprint, a not-for-profit environmental organization, in a new initiative, which will be rolled out today.

Staff of Rotman Executive Programs will be introduced to the Zerofootprint/Rotman Calculator. The web-based calculator measures an individual’s environmental impact in four areas; travel, food, office and home. Once an individual’s footprint is calculated, the tool advises on how to reduce it; simulates different “what if scenarios”; allows an individual to compare their achievements with other individuals or groups; and encourages the individual to form or join social networking groups around different environmental goals and challenges and track their success.

“Rotman Executive Programs believes in a culture of sustainability”, says Michael Hartmann, Assistant Dean, Executive Programs. “In an effort to reduce our environmental footprint and to encourage other individuals and organizations to do the same, we hope to extend this challenge to other educational institutions and our partner organizations nation-wide. Most importantly, we will be able to see what our collective efforts can achieve.”

Rotman Executive Programs is responsible for the delivery of both open enrolment and custom-designed executive education programs for individuals and organizations from Canada and around the world. Over the past nine years Rotman has worked with over 500 companies and trained over 30,000 individuals.

“We are excited about working with Rotman and its affiliates to create an extensive network of academics and senior corporate executives, who are committed to action around climate change. We believe that this could lead to significant, measurable results,” says Ron Dembo, Founder and CEO of Zerofootprint.

Zerofootprint is a not-for-profit that combines the best financial engineering, environmental engineering, social networking tools and business intelligence to create products and services that help large corporations, organizations, cities and individuals significantly reduce their ecological footprint.

Dembo will be the featured guest on September 12 in The Business of Green Speaker Series @ Rotman. The focus of this ongoing series is strategy lessons learned from corporations who have implemented green initiatives.
